Until 2014 Jerry served as President of BICSI, the international association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry with reference manuals, standards, education and global credentials. Jerry served on the BICSI Board of Directors for six years prior to this role, including two years as President-Elect. Throughout his 15 years of BICSI membership, he was the Project Manager for the creation and implementation of BICSI’s security program and first Electronic Safety and Security Design Reference Manual. Jerry currently services as the Security Industry Liaison for BICSI.
Outside of his membership and heavy involvement with BICSI, Jerry is also a member of the Uptime Institute, International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2), Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), the Green Grid, ISC2, the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), and InfraGard (Federal Bureau of Investigation). Jerry began his career in local law enforcement and his experience spanned 12 years and included certification by the Ohio Attorney General as a Law Enforcement Instructor.
Jerry has most recently served as Executive Vice President/Managing Director of Technology Construction for ICS, based in Washington, DC and focused on global construction of mission critical enterprise and government facilities – including intelligence data centers. He also serves on the Board of Directors for InfraGard, a public-private partnership funded by the FBI where he manages the technical output of 34,000 security and law enforcement professionals. Jerry spent much of 2014 working with the Gartner Group conducting a comprehensive cyber security assessment for a US government, where he received a commendation from the Governor for his service.
Jerry spent a year assisting in negotiations for a historical IT outsourcing agreement valued at over $1B as an independent consultant working with AT&T and a global petrochemical firm. Jerry also spent more than two years as the President and Chief Operating Officer for Beacon Enterprise Solutions Group, Inc. (OTCBB Stock Symbol: BEAC), a pioneer in ITIL-compliant IT managed services for global enterprises. At Beacon, as President Jerry was responsible for Sales, Global Account Management, Engineering, IT along with all day-to-day operations and global service delivery. Jerry also oversaw the strategic development and execution of the company’s corporate business strategy, which provided professional services to Fortune 1000 firms with multi-national and global enterprises.
Prior to Beacon Jerry was the Vice President/Managing Director of CommScope’s Global Services Division (Hickory, NC). Jerry originally joined as division head of Avaya’s Real Estate program in 2003 - just prior to CommScope’s acquisition of the Enterprise division from AVAYA. Before that, he worked at Superior Systems Technologies, where he was Chief Operating Officer. He also held a position as Vice President of Engineering for Riser Management Systems, a telecommunications design, engineering, management and consulting firm.
Some of Jerry’s ITS industry contributions include work as a member of BICSI’s Panel 500 (Residential Networks & Cabling); contributing author and security analyst of Gartner Group’s NIST Cyber Security Assessment white paper, a contributing author of Addendum 6, TIA-569 (1999); a contributing author of Residential Network Cabling, 1st edition (2002); a member of BICSI’s Technical Information & Methods Committee; a chapter coordinator and contributing author/editor to the BICSI Telecommunications Distribution Design Manual (TDMM), 11th edition; an editor of ANSI/BICSI 002-2011, Data Center Design and Implementation Best Practices; and a contributing author of the Information Security Handbook, 5th edition (2005, Auerbach Publishing). Jerry is also a regular speaker and contributor to ITS industry publications.
